Well:finished playing our first game and we made some mistakes.
One. You may only trade with the market place once!
Two. Any more trades must be done with the bank at two to one.
Three. as everyone did we played lots of coco cards, with my opponent one build from away winning. I was able to push him of the island and keep the lead for the rest of the game, at one point we were tied and then I move ahead.
Four. We agree coco cards are strong. However, nothing about the coco card indicated to us that the settlement did anything other than place it on the island. Not in the build spaces.
Five, if you do not have a ship you will have to build one. Since you must have a valid placement to build a settlement.
The settlement on the island is one victory point and will never be anything more. It produces no resources is not in a position to allow you to build on t since it sits on the island not in a space adjacent to the island.
Six. Since we can build and trade in any order, and made the mistake about the market. I flooded the market with one resource forcing the cards to be replenished.
Suggestions.
one do not replace trade market cards. This makes it harder to get what you need. However, it mean that they will replenish all at once.
Limit Coco cards per the original game buy what you like but only revel one a turn.
Limiting the number revealed make it such that they cost is unchanged but the opportunity cost goes up.
The third player had no chance due to bad rolling and the youngest who was doing great also lost when I moved the ghost captain onto my own island I shared to blight a singe resource source for him. He had four lairs on the same island I had two.
I am looking forward to another game.
I hope these ideas are helpful.
